On the 24th September 2024 I was privileged to be asked to speak at the Safeguarding Families in Adoption event put on by PATCH

This is a topic I am extremely passionate about as the impact of parenting a traumatised child cannot be underestimated. It’s important that we view behaviour through a trauma informed lens with a particular focus on trauma re-enactment and secondary trauma; taking a holistic approach to support the WHOLE family.

It was great to hear different experiences and perspectives from the other speakers (Al Coates, Fiona Wells and Sarah Johal) but also observe the validation, empathy and connections forming through the conversations.

This is just the start of the conversation around this topic and I cannot wait to see the work PATCH continue to do!
